cover letter for TEACHING POSITION:)

To Whom it May Concern,
My name is Lije Purellku and I am pursuing a career where I can apply my knowledge of Childhood Education towards a future career in teaching. I have completed my certification in Childhood Education (grades 1-6) as well as the NYSED appropriate teaching certifications. I also have a pending advanced certification in Special Education.
My certifications are proof of my passion for teaching ALL students and fostering a positive learning environment where diversity and different and effective learning styles are constantly encouraged. My experiences in several Elementary School classrooms have driven me to broaden my preferential teaching positions—to a Teacher Assistant position, or a resource room position. I understand the importance of a curriculum that provides understanding concepts of various cultures, including various languages. I also completed an Autism training workshop in addition to my college studies of managing/assisting in instructing students with disabilities. My student teaching classroom was an inclusion classroom with 9 IEP students, 2 of which were on the spectrum, and I enjoyed working with them very much. I found ways to connect with them by understanding and relating to some of their struggles/frustrations; and I would help them in completing their assignments in step-by-step, systematic instruction. Many of my experiences with various students (etc. special needs) have driven me to think about the differences of my own unfortunate struggles as an individual with disabilities. This has never hindered my academic/life success. In fact, it has equipped me with the motivational, inspirational techniques/strategies that I will bring with me to share them with my students. Therefore I desire to act as a role model for many of my students; for them to see how much someone with a disability can achieve, and therefore they may be inspired to reach their highest potential as well. I believe that my direct, first-hand experience as an individual who has faced many challenges and has overcome them while partially confined to a wheelchair has given me insights, and instructional advice that I carry within myself. My wheelchair has never impeded or hindered my teaching skills or engagement with the students. In fact, this mobility impairment has come to serve as an exceptional example to many of my college professors, advisors, and teaching mentors as I have proven time and time again how I able myself to complete certain teaching tasks and pedagogical college studies with reasonable accommodations which allow me to perform with as much success as anyone else. My several teaching experiences, including my numerous college studies/pedagogical training workshops (DASA, ASD) prove this.
In addition to my time Student Teaching, my Master’s degree required extensive, hands-on teaching in Elementary classroom environments as well. Prior to Graduate School, I received a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature. These studies have given me the skills to exercise my ability to read and interpret documents, as well as the ability to apply common sense understanding to follow/carry out instructions when supporting/assisting the classroom teacher. This enables me to effectively provide individual support to students on a consistent basis by assisting students in successfully learning the daily lesson objectives and reporting that data. I very much believe that I can contribute to students’ learning in all schools.

-References or Recommendations from my supervisors, professors, or my student teaching Elementary School placement principal are available upon request.
- Upon meeting, I also have a complete teaching portfolio (binder) with these documents. It also has full lesson plan examples, student samples, learning analyses, autism/students with disabilities interventions, and other teacher requirements.
-Any other reading/writing samples of mine are available upon request.

Warm Regards,
Lije Purellku
