I am pleased to write this recommendation for Lije Purellku. Lije
is a very vibrant person with a distinctive and engaging personality. She took
my Classroom Management course just before graduation with her masters degree.
My course requires intensive writing, role plays, class participation, and
collaborative work, as well as field work in classrooms during student
teaching. Lije excelled in all respects. Her written work was carefully thought
out and conscientiously completed. She holds a deeply student-centered
and caring approach to teaching. She has a questioning spirit and a belief that
children should be provided with opportunities to experience and develop their
creativity. Lije’s belief in inclusive education is not a mere abstraction but
emerges from her own experiences with a mobility impairment. Lije’s
determination and focus has caused her to refuse the limitations implied in the
term ‘disability’ and to push forward to fully realize her potential. She will,
therefore, serve as an exceptional role model for how all children can reach
their potential and live life to the fullest.
I am pleased to recommend her enthusiastically and without
reservation. Her enthusiasm and dedication to creating facilitative spaces for
children to grow and develop, as well as her engaging personality will ensure
that she will be successful in her teaching career.
Sincerely,
Michael O’Loughlin Ph.D.

To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing to recommend Ms. Lije
Purellku for an elementary teaching position in your school district. Ms.
Purellku was a student in the Scholar Teacher Education five-year program and
sought my input on her certification exams to become a teacher (in particular,
the edTPA). In that respect, I have had an opportunity to observe her
teaching ability as well as her analytic writing required on the test. We
have also talked about her interests in the teaching profession and as an
advocate for those with disabilities in schools.
Ms. Purellku has been an exemplary
student and growing professional, capable and independent, who is extremely
conscientious in her work with children, and has demonstrated to others in the
program that she is capable of delivering instruction very effectively in a
classroom environment. She is self-reflective and critical in thought, as
well as responsive to constructive feedback. Her successful completion of
our program reflects this which she balanced with her other studies in English
(her undergraduate major). Her work on the edTPA reflected considerable
professional and pedagogical knowledge about lesson designs and delivery,
assessment, modeling and guiding students towards their own independent
learning. She has been an avid student and mature beyond her years.
It would be important to point out
that she pursued her interest in teaching after the extreme challenges to her
own physical health, resulting in the use of a wheelchair. In the right
classroom circumstances with technology as support, however, she can thrive and
engage students with the same energy and knowledge that other teachers would
have. I have seen this first-hand in her work as a student teacher this
past year.
Ms. Purellku has values that appear to be very much in line with
public education and I believe that she will be a valuable additional to a
teaching staff at the elementary level in a full-time position. Her
passion, knowledge, collaborative abilities, potential for responding to the
needs of individual students and sense of responsibility in everything she does
is striking. I give her my strongest and highest recommendation and hope
you will contact me with any questions.
Sincerely,
Devin Thornburg, Ph.D.

To Whom It May Concern:
I observed Ms. Lije Purellku’s student
teaching hours here at Cornwell Avenue. Particularly, I observed her
teaching lessons through the Teacher Performance Assessment (edTPA.) Ms.
Purellku’s assessments were designed with a focus on student learning and
principles from research and theory. Her evaluations and analyses of student
work were thorough and consistent with the curriculum requirements. I met
and spoke with Lije’s student teaching advisor to discuss the requirements of
the edTPA and confirmed that she was fulfilling those requirements.
Lije is in a wheelchair which
initially concerned her as far as her teaching and navigating in the
classroom. However, she quickly proved that it was not an issue as she
made her assistance available to all of the students. Furthermore, with
the use of technology (classroom computer and projector,) she was able to
effectively carry out her lessons.
Ms. Purellku’s collaboration with teachers
and other faculty and staff was commendable. Lije quickly assimilated to
our staff and became a part of the Cornwell team. She is personable and
has a great sense of humor. She works hard and our students learned a
great deal from her.
If I can be of additional assistance
please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
